Phantom Menace The origins of the Clone Wars are actually 10 years before the conflict itself broke out. The Trade Federation came under the influence of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. He convinced them to protest the taxation of trade routes by blockading the world of Naboo. The Supreme Chancellor at this time, Vallorum, dispatched two Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan-learner, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to mediate and bring an end to the dispute. The treacherous Trade Federation, however, was instructed by Sidious to destroy the Jedi. They failed. The Jedi escaped their intended deaths and rescued the Queen of Naboo, Padme Amidala. Fleeing to the world of Tatooine due to damage taken in their escape, Master Jinn found the boy who would someday destroy the Jedi, Anakin Skywalker. Freeing him from slavery, Jinn, Kenobi, Skywalker, and Amidala traveled to Coruscant to deliver news of the Trade Federations illegal occupation of Naboo. Before leaving however, Qui-Gon was attacked by an unknown assailant bearing a lightsaber. Upon the return to Coruscant, the High Council initially refused young Skywalker entry into the Jedi Order. For now, apprentices were taken as infants, to be trained and indoctrinated fully with Jedi philosophy. However, even that could fail, as another Jedi Master would later demonstrate. Master Qui-Gon Jinn resolved that he would convince the High Council to reverse their decision. Amidala resolved to return to Naboo and the Jedi Council instructed Jinn and Kenobi to return with her. The Council was concerned about the possibility of the unknown assailant being there as well. Jinn took Skywalker with him. Once there the Jedi and the Queen worked with the Gungan natives of Naboo to defeat the corrupted Trade Federation. The Jedi became involved in a fight with the Sith Lord Darth Maul. The Sith Lord murdered Qui-Gon Jinn while Kenobi slew the murderous Maul in return. Anakin Skywalker was then accepted into the Jedi Order as Obi-Wan Kenobis Padawan-learner. During this time, the Jedi Master Dooku would renounce the Jedi Order and disappear. He would reappear 10 years later as Count Dooku, head of the Separatist Movement. -all non-original information has been compiled from Starwars.com Introduction | The Early Days | The Great Schism | The Great Hyperspace War Communications | Join | Academy | Holo-Archive |
